Description

The effective focal length obtained with the nominally 0.63x reductor for SCTs was 1100 mm, which means about F7.3 and hence a reducing factor of about 0.73.
Surely more reduction could be obtained with more distancing between reducer and sensor, but vignetting was already quite visible in uncalibrated images.
Nevertheless, thanks to the good sensor, even 10 seconds exposures were able to reveal details in NGC 891, as well as to detect other smaller and fainter galaxies in the background.
Specifically, even if Astrometry.Net does not point them out, there are (to the right of NGC891) PGC00942 (mag 16.24) and PGC2192261 (mag 16.46), while on the lower right, close to the bright star (HD14771, mag 6.72) there are PGC009101 (mag 15.94) and PGC2194768 (mag 16.49).
